Our Mission

KAURAGE is dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing abuse, displacement, and instability through access to legal services, housing support, and pathways to long-term independence.

Our work centers underserved communities, with a particular commitment to South Asian and Indo-Caribbean individuals and families throughout New York City and Long Island. We recognize that cultural stigma, language barriers, immigration concerns, and systemic challenges can prevent individuals from seeking safety and accessing support.

Guided by the principle of Jee Aaya Nu—“All Are Welcome”—KAURAGE provides inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive support. We aim to create a safe and trusted space where individuals can seek assistance, rebuild their lives, and move forward with dignity.

KAURAGE reflects both heritage and purpose—drawing from the strength of Kaur and the courage it takes to survive, seek safety, and rebuild.

Our Board

KAURAGE is guided by a Board of Directors with experience across legal services, community leadership, and professional sectors.
